Jeppe Nevers’ doctoral dissertation on Danish conceptions of democracy will be published by the University Press of Southern Denmark on the 4th of February 2011. The book focuses on Danish examples but also charts general patterns in the European history of the concept.

Doctors and scientists tend to view emotions as primarily linked to bodily functions, and explain them in terms of nerves, hormones, and adaptive mechanisms. Philosophers, theologians and psychologists, who throughout the ages argued about the rationality and cognitive status of Emotions, treat them often as a basic human faculty.

Quentin Skinner’s new book on Thomas Hobbes's theory of liberty is available. The first thing to meet the eye in Hobbes and Republican Liberty is that Skinner is discussing republican liberty. This is a term he had abandoned on historical grounds, and started to call this theory of freedom neo-Roman. But in this book he has decided to "adopt the terminology now in general use."

The Concepta advisory board met in Rome for the first time in February 2007. The board subsequently agreed that Concepta will organise four research training seminars in the 2008-2009 period in the following order: Transcending Concepts, Beyond Classical Key Concepts, Constitutions and Constitutionalism and Historical Argumentation in Political Discourse.
